James Schermerhorn's career began at Brookhaven National Laboratory, managing safety and health information systems. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Inorganic Chemistry from the University at Albany, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Siena College, and a Certificate in Database Design from Hofstra University.
