Herman Kienhuis

Herman Kienhuis has an extensive work experience in the field of venture capital and corporate venturing. Herman is currently the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Curiosity VC, a role they began in July 2021. Herman is also a Board Member at Strise and Freesi.io, starting in September 2022 and June 2022 respectively.

Prior to their current roles, Kienhuis founded River Venture Partners in 2015, where they served as the Founder and Managing Partner. River Venture Partners is an angel syndicate that provides funding and support to early-stage entrepreneurs. During this time, they also served as an angel investor in several companies.

Kienhuis has also held significant positions in other companies. Herman served as a Board Member at MeetingPackage since May 2021 and worked as a Venture Partner at Newion from January 2020 to June 2021. Herman was the EVP and Managing Director of KPN Ventures from January 2016 to December 2019, where they focused on investments in various sectors such as cloud services, OTT services, and internet of things.

Additionally, Kienhuis has been involved in various advisory and committee roles. Herman was an External Investment Committee member at Nederlandse Spoorwegen from May 2016 to December 2017. Herman also served as an Expert Selection Committee member at Stimuleringsfonds voor de Journalistiek / Dutch Journalism Fund from April 2016 to April 2017.

Prior to these roles, Kienhuis founded and served as the Managing Director of SanomaVentures, the venturing arm of Sanoma Corporation. During their time there from April 2012 to October 2015, they focused on strategic early-stage investments in tech startups in media & marketing services, e-commerce, and education.

Overall, Kienhuis has accumulated a wealth of experience across various venture capital and corporate venturing roles, showcasing their expertise in early-stage investments and supporting entrepreneurs.

Herman Kienhuis has a diverse education history. Herman completed their MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Groningen from 1991 to 1997. Prior to that, they attended SG Holten and obtained their High School degree (VWO - Atheneum) from 1985 to 1991.

Later, they pursued an MBA from INSEAD for the year 2000 to 2001, specializing in General Management, Innovation Management, Entrepreneurial Finance & Venture Capital.

Herman Kienhuis also has various additional certifications. In 2021, they completed the "Introduction to AI" certification from ICAI - Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence. In 2019, they obtained the "ScaleUpNation Board Program" certification from ScaleUpNation. Furthermore, they completed the "Creative Expression Program (CEP)" from EPT Executive Performance Training in 2011 and the "Strategic Leadership Program (SLP)" from Sanoma in 2008. In addition, they obtained certifications such as "The Positive Power and Influence Program" from Bureau Zuidema in 2006 and the "Initial Leadership Workshop (ILW)" from McKinsey & Company in 2003.
