Ashleigh R. Murphy Schafer

Ashleigh R. Murphy Schafer, PhD, is a Sterility Assurance Senior Analyst at Curium Pharma since March 2024. Prior to this role, Ashleigh dedicated time to family responsibilities following a relocation to the Netherlands. Ashleigh served as a Molecular Biologist at the San Diego County Public Health Services Laboratory from January 2021 to May 2023, leading SARS-CoV-2 sequencing and genomic epidemiology efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previous experience includes a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Scripps Research and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Baylor College of Medicine, focusing on immune regulation during influenza infection. Ashleigh earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology from Oregon Health & Science University, where research concentrated on antiviral human microRNAs and flaviviral immune evasion pathways, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Mercer University.
