Cheryl Lau has held a variety of roles in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. Cheryl began their career in 2011 as a Law Intern at Chaine, Chow and Barbara Hung. Cheryl then served as an Executive Board Member at Georgetown International Relations Association, Inc. in 2013 and a Summer Intern at Bloomberg LP in the same year. In 2014, Cheryl worked as a Summer Business Analyst at Citibank (Hong Kong) and as Chair of TEDx Georgetown, where they organized the theme "Ithaca, the Road Less Traveled" and curated notable talks. From 2015 to 2016, they held roles as a Corporate Finance Summer Analyst at Barclays Investment Bank and a Management Consultant Associate and Management Consulting Analyst at Deutsche Bank. Most recently, in 2021, Cheryl joined Curology as an Operations Strategy Senior Associate.

Cheryl Lau has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in International Political Economy from Georgetown University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained an International Baccalaureate from Li Po Chun United World College from 2010 to 2012. Before that, they attended Maryknoll Convent School from 2006 to 2010. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including Blockchain and Business: Applications and Implications from Coursera in September 2020, Tech and Business Operations from Skillful in September 2020, FinTech: Foundations, Payments, and Regulations from Coursera in May 2020, Introduction to Blockchain Technologies from Coursera in May 2020, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from BearingPoint in May 2020.
