Shai Fogel has held various software engineering positions since 2009. shai began their career as a Lead Developer and Team Head at the Israel Defense Forces unit 8200 in 2010, followed by a Senior Software Engineer role at INFINIDAT from 2016 to 2020. In 2021, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at PayPal.

Shai Fogel attended Bar-Ilan University, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science in 2010 and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science. Prior to this, they attended the officers school in 2009.
