Shawn Gilliam

Shawn Gilliam is a Senior Staff Research Engineer at Cutera, Inc. since January 2014, specializing in the design of new products with a focus on laser and optical design. Prior to this role, Shawn served as a Senior R&D Technician and gained experience as a Laser Engineering Intern at Spectra-Physics, where skills in DPSS UV laser design and prototype testing were developed. Academically, Shawn holds a Master of Science in Applied Physics from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Oregon State University. Additional research experience includes work at the University of Oregon and the Laboratory of Dr. William Hetherington, where contributions were made in optical astronomy. Early career experiences include roles in mechanical repair, project assistance in agricultural research, and team involvement in underwater robotics.
