Nicole Scott

Co-Founder & CEO at Cybele Microbiome

Nicole’s mission is to make products that make a meaningful difference to human health. For a long-time she thought this meant understanding human genetics to find drug targets—but after discovering the incredible impact and potential of the microbiome, her work pivoted to methods, modeling, and ultimately commercializing microbiome technologies that could help people’s health and wellness, and prevent disease in the consumer space. She co-founded Cybele Microbiome out of her over 19 years of experience in population and statistical genetics, the microbiome, and the metagenome. She trained at the University of Michigan and University of Chicago and is an expert in the microbiome and metagenome having worked with Drs. Rob Knight and Jack Gilbert. She was the first employee of the Rob Knight’s startup Biota Technology. She is cited >3000 times, is an active member of an NSF microbiome-related grant review committee, a member of the NIAID PPC/TTP workshop for skin applied insect repellents, as well as an invited speaker in the microbiome and metagenome space.
