Spencer Yuen

Spencer Yuen has a strong background in search and data engineering. Spencer worked at CyberCoders from 2016 onwards, where they played a crucial role in architecting Solr indexes, managing search infrastructure, and creating REST-based APIs using various technologies such as Scala, Java, Python Flask, and Gunicorn in Docker swarm. Spencer also performed DevOps functions by creating and managing Docker services and Docker swarm with Portainer, TeamCity, Sysdig, and Docker compose.

Before joining CyberCoders, Spencer served as a Technical Team Lead at Mylife.com from 2008 to 2016. During their tenure, they created Elasticsearch and Solr indexes of millions of records, managed search clusters, and handled high query volumes.

Prior to Mylife.com, Spencer worked at Reunion.com as a Java Developer from 2006 to 2008. In this role, they played a key part in architecting critical features and enhancing website performance using MySQL, Spring JDBC, Oracle triggers, and stored procedures.

Throughout their career, Spencer has consistently demonstrated their expertise in search and data engineering, as well as their ability to utilize various technologies to optimize system performance and efficiency.

Spencer Yuen has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from UCLA. Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Cognitive Science from UCLA. In terms of additional certifications, Spencer obtained the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification from Microsoft in November 2022. Spencer also obtained the OpenHack: AI-Powered Knowledge Mining certification from Microsoft OpenHack in April 2022.
