James Smyth has worked in the software engineering field since 2008. James began their career as a Cyber Engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation, where they developed solutions for network and battlefield situational awareness as well as network security analyst workflow automation, mostly with Java in a research and development environment of mixed technologies. James also created interactive geospatial data visualization interfaces with Blender 3D's game engine and NASA WorldWind.

In 2011, James moved to Booz Allen Hamilton as a Lead Technologist and Software Engineer, where they developed an ASP. NET MVC website that automated data storage and compliance. The site had numerous points of COTS integration for enterprise search capability, UDP-based file transport, and mixed database technologies.

In 2014, James began working at dataFascia as a Software Engineer, developing a healthcare data analytics platform and tools in support of doctor decision making. Data was stored in accumulo and processing was done mostly in Java with a web front-end.

In 2017, James joined CyberPoint International as a Software Engineer, where they are responsible for backend software development with Python and Django, as well as MLOps and AI technologies.

James Smyth received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Visual Arts from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2010. James also received a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts with a Film Concentration from the same university, also in 2010.
