Rene Sweegers

Rene Sweegers has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Rene is currently working at Cytel as the Global Controller since December 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of European Finance Controller at Cytel from September 2020 to December 2022.

Before joining Cytel, Rene worked at Gympass as the Europe Finance Controller from September 2018 to September 2020. In this role, they set up and led the European financial shared service center, improving and standardizing financial processes across multiple countries.

From 2009 to 2018, Rene worked at Amgen Europe B.V. in various roles. Rene served as the Regional Controller for Russia, Middle East, Africa, and Turkey from September 2013 to August 2018, leading the regional accounting team and implementing strong internal controls and reporting standards. Prior to that, they were the Sr. Manager European Accounting from March 2011 to September 2013 and the Manager European Accounting from January 2009 to March 2011.

Rene's earlier experience includes working at Dell B.V. as a Statutory Accountant for Benelux entities and EMEA Dell Holdings entities from December 2006 to January 2009. Rene also worked as a Financial Consultant at Vijzelaar en Van Eijkeren, providing support for VAT issues and statutory annual reports for Dutch entities at Dell B.V.

Rene started their career as an Assistant Accountant at BDO Accountants & Adviseurs Utrecht from June 2002 to June 2005. Prior to that, they worked as an administratief medewerker at Carlton hotel collection from 1999 to 2001.

Rene Sweegers pursued their education in a chronological manner. In 1997, they attended Fontys University of Applied Sciences, where they specialized in Financial Management and completed their studies in 1999. After that, they furthered their education by attending Markus Verbeek Praehep from 2001 to 2005. During this period, they earned their Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with a focus on SPD Bedrijfadministratie.
