Dr Kate Cameron has a wealth of experience in the field of biotechnology. From 2008 to 2011, they were a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, followed by a Business Development Assistant at Science Squared Ltd. In 2012, they returned to the University of Edinburgh as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they generated highly functional pluripotent derived hepatocytes for drug screening and liver regeneration. During this time, they established new, good manufacturing practice (GMP) translatable protocols for hepatocytes, which have been published and patented. Dr Kate also significantly improved the efficiency of the differentiation protocol, yielding cells with improved gene expression, morphology organisation and significantly improved function. In 2017, they became the CEO and founder of Cytochroma Limited, and in 2018 they were awarded a BBSRC RSE Enterprise Fellowship at the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
Dr Kate Cameron completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Reproductive Biology at The University of Edinburgh between 2003 and 2007.
