Alex Malkin has a range of experience in the engineering field. They began their career as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Automatika in 2007. In 2008, they joined Ximedica as a Mechanical Engineer, where they led design and development activities for medical products. They worked on conceptual design, prototyping, and collaborated with various teams. In 2012, Alex started their Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing on medical device surface coatings and their impact on circulating cell behavior. They also led the development of an extracorporeal device for treatment of acute inflammatory conditions. In 2018, Alex joined Cytovale as a Senior Engineer and then progressed to roles such as Senior Manager of Engineering, Associate Director, and eventually Director of Engineering and New Product Introduction.
Alex Malkin completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University from 2005 to 2008. Following this, from 2012 to 2017, Alex pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh.
