Shivkumar (Shiv) Sabesan

Shivkumar (Shiv) Sabesan has an extensive work experience spanning over several years and multiple companies. Shivkumar (Shiv) is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Cytrellis Biosystems, Inc. since May 2023. Prior to that, from June 2021 to May 2023, Shiv held the position of Vice President, Health and Human Performance Solutions at Movella. Shivkumar (Shiv) also had a significant role as the Chief Technology Officer at Alto Neuroscience from April 2020 to September 2021.

Before joining Alto Neuroscience, Shiv worked at Philips as the Global Head of R&D, Emerging Business from July 2018 to June 2020. Shivkumar (Shiv) was responsible for leading research and development efforts in emerging business areas. Prior to Philips, they served as a Technical Lead at Google's Verily Life sciences LLC from April 2016 to August 2018.

Shiv also has experience in academia. Shivkumar (Shiv) worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University from September 2014 to August 2017. Prior to that, they held various roles at LivaNova, including Director of Clinical Research, Systems & Algorithm Development, Senior Principal Research Scientist & Engineering Manager, and Principal Research Scientist in the Sensors & Algorithm Development department.

Earlier in their career, Shiv co-founded Advanced Brain Systems LLC, where they served as the Chief Technology Officer from May 2008 to August 2010. Shivkumar (Shiv) also had research positions at Barrow Neurological Institute and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a Research Assistant Professor of Neurology and a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neurology and Neurosurgery, respectively. Shivkumar (Shiv) Sabesan has pursued their education in the field of Electrical Engineering. Shivkumar (Shiv) attended Arizona State University, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering. Additionally, Shiv continued their academic journey at Arizona State University, focusing on their passion for electrical engineering, and successfully earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the same discipline.
