Dan Allen has had a successful career in the medical industry, starting in 1984 when they founded Allen Medical Systems. As the president and founder, they pioneered the surgical table accessory and patient positioning device market, creating a globally recognized brand. Dan also invented and developed a range of innovative surgical table accessories, patient positioning devices, and patient surfaces. After retiring from Allen Medical Systems, they went on to found MEDICUS USA in 1994 and D.A. Surgical in 2013, where they served as president and founder in both companies. Additionally, they were a founding partner at Medicus Surgical from 2010 to 2013 and a consultant at Ethos Surgical from 2011 to 2013.

Dan Allen attended Kent State University from 1966 to 1971, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. The field of study for their degree is not specified.
