Puey Chyan Looi

Puey Chyan Looi has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, they served as the Chief Operations Officer at Dai-ichi Life Insurance Myanmar starting in July 2019. Before that, they worked as a Consultant for the Myanmar Project at Prudential Holdings Limited from July to December 2018. From 2014 to 2018, they were the Chief Operations Officer at Prudential Cambodia. Prior to that, they served as the Regional Manager of Life Business Development at Munich Management Pte Ltd, Singapore from November 2013 to February 2014. From 2005 to 2011, they held the position of Deputy General Manager at FORTIS N.V./S.A.(Asia) then Ageas Insurance Company (Asia), where they were seconded to oversee various departments. Before that, they worked at Great Eastern Life for 7 years, holding various roles including Head of New Business & Underwriting, Agency Management, Internal Audit, and Business Operations Division. Puey Chyan also served as the Regional Underwriting & Claims Manager at Allianz AG (Reinsurance Branch Asia Pacific) from 1999 to 2002, and as the Head Underwriter (Life and Health, Asia) at Mercantile & General Reinsurance from 1989 to 1994.

Puey Chyan Looi obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Nanyang Technological University Singapore from 1983 to 1986. Later, from 2006 to 2008, Looi pursued an EMBA degree in Finance at Arizona State University. Looi's education also includes enrollment in the CFA Program at the CFA Institute, although specific dates and degree attained are not provided.
