Simon King has had an extensive and diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Their most recent role was as the Chief People Officer at Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. starting in August 2019. Prior to that, they served as the Chairman of the Board for HR People + Strategy at the SHRM Executive Network from January 2018 to December 2019.
Before their time at Daiichi Sankyo and SHRM, Simon worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where they held the positions of Global Head of Talent from May 2015 to July 2019, and HR VP for Global Research and Development from April 2013 to May 2015.
Simon also gained valuable experience at AstraZeneca, where they served as HR VP for Global Research and Development from March 2009 to April 2013. Prior to that, they held various roles in the HR department, including VP HR Global Research and Executive Director positions.
Their professional journey started at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals in 1993, where they held different HR Director roles. Simon began their career at ICI Pharmaceuticals in 1986, where they served as an HR Business Partner and Education Liaison Manager, among other roles.
Throughout their career, Simon has demonstrated expertise in various areas of HR, such as talent management, leadership development, and change management. Simon has also been involved with professional associations and has a passion for building the HR profession.
Simon King attended North Walsham Grammar School from 1979 to 1982, but did not obtain a degree or study a specific field. Simon then went on to The University of Edinburgh from 1982 to 1986, where they earned a BSc degree in Biological Sciences. It is unknown if they attended Cornell University.
