Thomas von Zahn

Thomas von Zahn has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Thomas started their career in 2013 as a Debating Coach at Norman Henshilwood High School and continued coaching at Cape Academy of Maths, Science and Technology in 2014. In 2012, they served as the Director of Training at Thethani Debating League and held multiple roles at Western Cape Schools Debating Board, including Provincial Schools Coach and Development Officer. Thomas also represented UCT Debating Union as the Rotary/Schools Representative. In 2015, they worked as an Economics Tutor at the University of Cape Town and as a Winter Intern at Ipreo. Thomas then joined Sygnia Asset Management as an Institutional Investment Administrator. From 2016 onwards, Thomas has been with Daily Maverick, starting as a Financial Assistant and progressing to the roles of Financial Controller and currently serving as the Head of Finance.

Thomas von Zahn attended Diocesan College (Bishops) from 2007 to 2011, where they acquired a National Senior Certificate. Thomas then pursued their bachelor's degree at the University of Cape Town from 2012 to 2014, majoring in Politics, Philosophy & Economics. Thomas furthered their education at the same university from 2015 to 2020, obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce Honours (B.Com. (Hons.)) degree with a specialization in Financial Analysis & Portfolio Management.
