Jörg Lorz was born in 1972 in Volkmarsen, Germany. After completing a technical college program in electrical engineering, in 1994, he began training as an industrial electronics technician at the Mercedes-Benz Kassel Plant. This was followed by further continuing education measures and certification as a human resources specialist (IHK) in 2009, as well as a contact study program at the University of Hamburg, which he completed in 2017 with a certificate as Manager in Socio-Economics. In 2019, he completed his training as General Manager at ESMT Berlin.
After his apprenticeship, he first worked in the hardening shop as a production worker and shortly afterwards in his trained occupation in the maintenance department of the Kassel Plant.
From 1995 to 1998, Jörg Lorz was active as Chairman of the Youth and Trainee Council. In the period from 1998 to 2014, he was active as Deputy to the Representative Body for Severely Disabled Employees. Since 2002, he has been an active member of the Works Council at the Kassel Plant, and has served on various specialist committees of the Works Council there since that time. In 2018, he was elected Chairman of the Works Council.
Since April 2018, he has been an active member of the Central Works Council of Daimler AG and holds the chair of the Committee for Education and Qualification Training. Jörg Lorz is Chairman of the Works Council of the Mercedes-Benz Kassel Plant.
