Amjad al Helwani

Amjad Al Helwani is a seasoned structural engineering professional with extensive experience in academic and research roles. Currently, Amjad serves as the Structural Engineering Division Coordinator at Damascus University’s Higher Institute for Earthquake Research and Studies, focusing on modeling and analysis of reinforced concrete buildings under seismic loads, along with studies on material non-linearity and crack propagation. Previously, Amjad coordinated the Seismic Structural Engineering Department, managing research tasks for students at the MS and PhD levels. Amjad has also taught various engineering courses at Yarmouk Private University and the International University for Science and Technology. Amjad's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Earthquake Resisting Construction and a Master's in Seismic Structural Engineering, both from the Nagoya Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Damascus University.
