Mircea C. Ionita

Mircea C. Ionita is a Principal Research Scientist at Daon since July 2012, focusing on image-based biometric solutions for financial transactions and personal information access. Prior experience includes serving as a Research Associate at the University of Manchester from 2010 to 2012, contributing to the European Commission's Mobile Biometry Project. In 2009, Mircea held the position of Imaging R&D Engineer at Tessera, specializing in imaging applications for embedded systems. At NUI Galway, experience includes roles as a Teaching Assistant from 2006 to 2008 and as an Industrial PhD Programme Researcher from 2005 to 2008, where statistical face modeling techniques for face recognition were developed. Additionally, a research project internship at Schneider Electric & INP Grenoble involved signal processing for electrical fault detection in aircraft. Academically, Mircea holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Galway, an MS in Images, Patterns, and Artificial Intelligence from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, and a combined BS/MS in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the same institution.
