Dr. Andrew Smith has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Their most recent position was as a Product Manager at Dare starting in September 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Farad.ai as a Power Systems Lead from April 2022 to September 2022, and as a Software Engineer from April 2021 to April 2022.
Before joining Farad.ai, Dr. Smith co-founded and served as a resident DJ at 1984 Durham, a local techno club night, from November 2017 to April 2021. Dr Andrew gained extensive experience in small team management, project planning, sound engineering, audio isolation, and event management/promotion during this time.
Dr. Smith pursued their PHD at Durham University from October 2016 to April 2021. Additionally, they served as the MCR President at Hatfield College, Durham University from June 2017 to June 2018.
Earlier in their career, Dr. Smith worked as an EPSRC Project Student at the University of Oxford from July 2015 to September 2015, where they focused on developing experimental capabilities to detect changes in the transport properties of iron-based superconductors. Dr Andrew also worked as a UROP Summer Intern at Imperial College London from July 2014 to September 2014, contributing to the Plasma Physics Research group.
Furthermore, Dr. Smith gained writing experience as a Writer for Bang! Science Magazine from October 2012 to April 2014.
Dr. Andrew Smith pursued their education from 2005 to 2016. Dr Andrew completed their GCSEs with outstanding grades from Bishops Stortford High School. Later, they attended Bishop's Stortford College from 2010 to 2012, where they completed their A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. Dr. Smith then continued their academic journey at the University of Oxford, where they obtained an MPhys degree in Physics between 2012 and 2016.
