Cameron Bahar

Lead Technical Advisor at Darmiyan

Cameron Bahar is the Lead Technical Advisor at Darmiyan. Cameron has previously served as SVP & Global CTO at Veritas Technologies LLC from October 2017 to September 2020 and at Huawei from November 2012 to October 2017, where they were also Head of US R&D Storage Lab.

At Huawei, Bahar helped grow the company ten-fold to 12,000 employees and increase storage BU revenue from $200M in 2013 to $7.5B in 2017. Cameron also led the development of a dual controller block storage system with 10M iops and 100 usec latency, inline deduplication/compression/snapshots/clones using 3DX memory and NVMe all in user-mode software, contributing to and leveraging Intel DPDK/SPDK (2016: 10X faster than nearest competitor). In addition, they oversaw the development of a software only 1000 node cluster providing elastic block storage (EBS) for public cloud with millions of IOPS, predictable 250usec latency, inline global deduplication, compression, snapshots, clones. Technology deployed in Huawei public cloud.

Cameron Bahar did their undergraduate studies at UC Irvine, where they obtained a B.S in EECS - First in Class - 4.0. They then went on to study at UC Irvine for their M.S in EECS - 4.0. After that, they deferred their Ph.D. at UCLA in Distributed and Highly Available Operating Systems. Lastly, they studied at the University of Oxford for their A-Levels in Math, Physics, and Chemistry.
