Serge Smertin

Serge Smertin is an experienced technology leader with a diverse background in software development, engineering, and project management. Currently serving as the Head of Databricks Labs at Databricks since November 2019, Serge has driven significant impact through the successful launch of the Databricks Terraform Integration and has transformed the organization into a vibrant open-source community. Prior to this role, Serge held key positions at Adyen, where responsibilities included building an on-premise Data Science Platform and focusing on observability and data infrastructure. Serge's previous experience also includes roles at Hatch, iSIGHT Partners, and other companies, where notable achievements involved designing scalable systems, leading technical teams, and implementing robust architectures. Serge holds a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics with a focus on Natural Language Processing from Lviv Polytechnic National University.
