Patrick Mwangi

Patrick Mwangi has an extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and technology. Patrick is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Datactics since February 2023. Prior to that, they served as a Training and Engineering Lead at Smoothstack from January 2021 to February 2023. In this role, they were responsible for managing, training, and mentoring team members, promoting best engineering practices, and providing technical leadership.

Before joining Smoothstack, Patrick worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Cummins Inc. from May 2019 to August 2020. Here, they were part of the Innovation team at the Digital Accelerator Project, where they contributed to the development of digital products for enhancing customer value.

In 2017, Patrick worked as an Analytics Consultant at the New York City Mayor's Office of Recovery and Resiliency. Patrick was involved in evaluating vulnerabilities in the city's food system and providing recommendations for resiliency measures. Patrick also built and deployed a mapping tool to aid the Mayor's office in identifying vulnerable communities and critical food system outlets.

From 2015 to 2016, Patrick worked as a Software Developer at the National Police Service Commission, where they collaborated with government officials and police officers to automate business processes and improve efficiency. Additionally, they played a role in the development of an IT policy for the organization.

Patrick's career also includes a role as an IT Specialist at the Renewable Energy Training and Assistance Program from 2011 to 2014, and as a Co-Founder at Ubiquity Media from 2009 to 2012.

Patrick Mwangi holds a Master's Degree in Data Science from the NYU Center for Urban Science + Progress, which they obtained from 2016 to 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa, studying from 2006 to 2009. In addition to their formal education, Patrick has also obtained two certifications: CCNA from Cisco in July 2005 and IMIS from the Institute for the Management of Information Systems in March 2005.
