Marie Onakomaiya

Marie Onakomaiya has dedicated their career to improving healthcare quality, access, and chronic disease management for marginalized populations. Marie is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at Datacubed Health, where they lead community-based, tech-focused clinical epidemiology research initiatives.

Prior to joining Datacubed Health, Marie was a Clinical Epidemiologist at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where they led research and evaluation for large population health and clinical epidemiology studies. During their time there, they conducted mixed methods evaluation research to develop study designs, program evaluation aims and data analysis plans, statistical methodology, and IRB protocols, as well as reports for leadership and funders for five grant initiatives, including an $8 Million CDC grant to reach 2 Million New Yorkers, including ~26,000 healthcare providers.

Marie is a skilled surveyor and data analyst, having designed surveys and interview guides to meet population health needs and conducted quantitative and qualitative data analyses and visualization of healthcare and epidemiology data. Marie has also managed vendor selection and contracting for two grant-funded projects.

Marie is committed to team leadership and culture, having contributed to team leadership and culture through mentorship, direct management and workgroups. Marie has mentored team members in evaluation methodology and participated in five workgroups on health equity, surveys, GIS, machine learning, and digital health policy.

Marie Onakomaiya has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuroscience from Dartmouth College, a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health from Columbia University in the City of New York, and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Babcock University. Marie also has certification from the NIH Clinical Center (CC) in Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research, Coursera in An Introduction to Global Health, and the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects in Education Program in the Protection of Human Subjects.
