Kiran Rao

Kiran Rao has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Kiran currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at Dataminr, a position they started in January 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Senior Vice President - Corporate Finance and Strategy at Dataminr from December 2020 to December 2021.

Before joining Dataminr, Kiran was associated with Bridgewater Associates, where they held various positions from 2014 to 2020. Kiran served as the Head of the Covid-19 Taskforce and the Head of Finance Strategy. Kiran also worked as a Senior Management Associate and as the Head of Portfolio Analytics during their tenure at Bridgewater Associates.

Prior to Bridgewater Associates, Kiran worked at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a Principal from 2013 to 2014. Kiran was primarily involved in leading strategy consulting projects and developing client relationships. Kiran specialized in BCG's healthcare practice area, working with large pharma, medical technology, and health services companies.

Before joining BCG, Kiran had a significant role as a Charter Member and Co-Founder of TiE Angels at The Indus Entrepreneurs. TiE Angels is an angel investment group that fosters entrepreneurship through networking, mentoring, and education. Kiran was associated with TiE Angels Boston from 2009 to 2014.

Kiran also served as a Board Member at Infobionic, an emerging mHealth company specializing in remote physiological monitoring platforms. Kiran played a pivotal role in developing their cloud-based solution, MoMe™, with a focus on arrhythmia detection. Kiran was associated with Infobionic from 2013 to 2014.

Prior to their roles in the entrepreneurial and healthcare sectors, Kiran worked as a Principal at Grove Street, where they led private equity and venture capital investments. Kiran was actively involved in investment due diligence and decision-making, served on advisory boards, and monitored existing investments. Kiran worked at GroveStreet from 2009 to 2013.

Kiran started their career at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in 2002, where they gained experience in leading strategy consulting projects and developing client relationships. Kiran worked across BCG's Boston, Zurich, and Mumbai offices, specializing in the healthcare practice area. Kiran'swork at BCG involved projects in various industries, including healthcare, financial services, consumer goods, and industrial goods. Kiran served as a Principal at BCG from 2002 to 2009.

Kiran Rao completed their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences from 1993 to 1999. Kiran then pursued an MBA degree in Finance and Strategy from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, starting in 2000 and graduating in 2002. During the same period, Kiran Rao also attended ESSEC Business School, where they earned another MBA degree with a focus on Strategy and Finance, completing their studies in 2002.
