THE JOB ROLE   

We are looking for a passionate, self-driven Quality Engineer to join our growing team, specialising in solutions design and crafting solutions for our cloud services and products.  The role requires hands-on test automation expertise, the ability to take initiative, and to evolve the quality assurance processes currently followed by the company.  With a cross-departmental focus on quality, you be responsible for the continuous delivery of value enabled by close collaboration with Delivery Leads, Product Owners, and multi-location delivery teams.  This is a unique opportunity to join a company with a fun, friendly and collaborative working culture where your career development will be fully supported. WHAT YOU’LL DO 

As the Quality Engineer, you will lead the establishment and refinement of formal automated testing practices, processes, and standards to bolster our agile development and operational efforts. Your expertise in automated testing will position you as the go-to resource within the engineering team, guiding and mentoring Software and Quality Engineers toward best practices.

Collaborating closely with the DevOps Lead, you will play a pivotal role in crafting our Quality Automation strategy, fostering a push on green capability, implementing robust test automation solutions, and overseeing test execution. Additionally, you'll drive the definition and tracking of key metrics, drawing upon industry best practices to continuously improve our automated testing approach. Your contributions will extend to designing reusable automated test scripts, optimizing quality feedback loops within our CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring strict adherence to company-defined testing standards. Effective communication of project plans, commitments, and changes will also be integral to your role. 

ABOUT YOU  

The following expertise and experience are required: 

  • Strong background (5+ years) as a Quality Engineer.

  • Proficiency in creating, maintaining, and optimising automated tests across the entire tech stack to ensure stability and scalability.

  • Usage of tools such as JMeter, Postman, Newman, RestAssured, ReadyAPI, Selenium, Swagger etc.

  • Demonstrable experience and a good understanding of object-oriented programming and SQL.

  • Familiarity with best practices in Software Development (patterns like PageObject Model, SOLID, DRY, KISS etc.)

  • Ability to create automated tests for exiting solutions written in C#, JavaScript/Typescript.

  • Experience with modern automated testing frameworks, with a particular emphasis on Playwright.

  • Collaborate with other engineers to identify and resolve issues, improvements and efficiencies.

  • Web browser testing experience across IE, EDGE, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

  • Expertise in writing automation tests on different levels (API, E2E)

  • Solid knowledge of data formats, including JSON.

  • Solid knowledge of the http protocol.

  • Experience engaging and working within multi-functional agile teams.

  • Understanding of business needs while being able to propose practical solutions.

  • Proficiency with GIT.

  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts. Demonstrable experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD tooling.

  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform.

Desirable 

  • Exposure to design techniques such as TDD.
  • Recognised testing qualification such as ISTQB Test qualification.
  • Microsoft certification.
  • Commercial experience in conducting non-functional tests, such as performance testing, infrastructure testing, or related areas.
  • Knowledge of the UK Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences industry.
