Gerard Walsh

Gerard Walsh is a data scientist who currently works at DataProphet. Gerard has also worked as a junior data scientist at Exegetic Analytics, where they consulted for various local and international clients on data engineering, analysis, and predictive model creation. Gerard also co-hosted a workshop on Deep Learning at PyCon 2019 and gave a lightning talk at satRday 2019. Prior to working in data science, Gerard was a tutor for 1st year engineering students at Stellenbosch University, teaching programming and strength of materials. Gerard also completed internships at the Fraunhofer-Institut für Werkzeugmaschinen und Umformtechnik (IWU) in Germany and TF Design and Westside Distillers in South Africa.

Gerard Walsh has a Master's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from Stellenbosch University as well as a Master of Engineering - MEng in the same field from University of Stuttgart. Gerard also has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stellenbosch University. In addition, they have a certification in Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera.
