Kris Hopkins

Kris Hopkins has extensive work experience in financial aid and higher education administration. Kris currently holds the position of Associate Director of Financial Aid at Davidson College, where they started in January 2021. Prior to this, Kris worked at the University of Virginia as the Associate Director for Undergraduate Financial Aid from December 2017 to January 2021. In this role, Kris managed the undergraduate, need-based aid process and collaborated with a team of financial aid professionals.

Before joining the University of Virginia, Kris worked at Colgate University for a significant period of time. They held various roles at Colgate, including Director of First-Year Aid/Assistant Director of Financial Aid, Director of Student Employment/Assistant Director of Financial Aid, and Assistant/Associate Director - Corporate, Foundation, and Government Relations. In these positions, Kris was responsible for managing financial aid processes, overseeing student employment programs, and engaging in corporate, foundation, and government relations.

Kris also has experience working at Hamilton College, where they served as the Director of Stewardship from 1996 to 2000 and held various temporary administrative assignments from 1992 to 1996. Prior to this, Kris worked at Simmons University, holding three successively more responsible positions within the Alumnae Office from 1983 to 1986.

Kris Hopkins pursued course work towards a Master of Science (M.S.) in Organizational Leadership at Quinnipiac University - School of Business in 2016. In 1986-1987, Kris Hopkins completed course work in AA/EEO Management through a certificate program at Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations. They obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology, recommended for the honors program, from Oberlin College between 1978 and 1983. Additional course work was undertaken in Psychology at George Mason University in 1983 and in Personnel Management at University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1982.
