Marquita D. Barker

MarQuita D. Barker, Ed.D., currently serves as the Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students at Davidson College, beginning in June 2025. Prior to this role, MarQuita held the position of Vice President for Student Development at Knox College from January 2022 to June 2025, where strategic leadership was provided for student success and engagement initiatives. Additionally, MarQuita served as Interim Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admission at Knox College, overseeing enrollment management efforts. Between August 2008 and January 2022, MarQuita worked at Elon University, progressing through roles from Assistant Dean of Campus Life/Director of Residence Life to Senior Associate Director and Associate Director of Residence Life. MarQuita holds an Ed.D. from Vanderbilt University, an MBA from Elon University, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Old Dominion University in Higher Education Administration and Communication and Media Studies, respectively.
