Paul Keener

Paul Keener has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Paul is currently working as the SVP, Head of Cybersecurity Operations at City National Bank, where they are responsible for developing and implementing cybersecurity policies and frameworks to protect the bank's assets and customer data. Paul also leads a team of cybersecurity professionals and oversees incident response plans to mitigate cyber incidents.

Prior to their current role, Keener worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Diego, teaching courses in Cyber Intelligence, Cyber Incident Response, and Computer Network Forensics. Paul was also an instructor at Davis Defense Group, Inc., where they taught military education courses to Marine Corps reserve officers.

Keener has prior experience in the field of cybersecurity at Viasat Inc., where they held various director positions, including Director of Cyber Security Operations and Director of Cyber Security Operations Center and Red Team. Paul also worked as a Red Team/SOC Manager at Viasat, managing and overseeing cyber security operations.

Additionally, Keener was involved in cyber developmental testing at Marine Corps Systems Command, leading a team in conducting adversarial cyber assessments of command and control systems. Paul also served as an Operations Officer at MWCS-38, managing the daily operations of a large communications organization within the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.

Keener's experience in the Marine Corps includes being a Command and Staff Student at Marine Corps University and serving as the 06xx Occupational Field Manager at HQMC C4, CSP. In this role, they managed the development of the communications occupational field and oversaw the management of postgraduate technical fields for Naval Postgraduate School.

Furthermore, Keener has served as a SANS Mentor at the SANS Institute, providing guidance and mentorship in cybersecurity. Paul also had experience as a Commanding Officer at 10th Marine Regiment.

Paul Keener earned a Master's degree in Military Studies from Marine Corps University in 2014-2015. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and Government at UC San Diego from 1998 to 2000. Additionally, they obtained several certifications including "Communication for Product Managers," "Product Management: Building a Product Roadmap," "Product Management: Building a Product Strategy," "OKR Expert," "Camtasia 2019 Essential Training: Advanced Techniques," "Camtasia 2019 Essential Training: The Basics," and "Security+".
