Tobias Knop

Tobias Knop has a diverse work experience in the aerospace industry. Tobias is currently the COO and Co-founder at Dawn Aerospace since February 2016. Prior to that, they worked at Hyperion Technologies B.V. as a Design Engineer from January 2016 to August 2018, and as a Graduate Intern from March 2015 to December 2015.

Tobias also had significant involvement with Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering, where they served as the Lead Propulsion Engineer for the Stratos II+ Sounding Rocket from June 2010 to October 2015. In this role, they led a team of 8 students in designing, building, and testing the 10 kN hybrid rocket motor DHX-200 Aurora. This motor powered the record-breaking flight of the Stratos II+ rocket.

Tobias has also served as a Student Assistant at TU Delft in various roles. This includes working on Thermal Rocket Propulsion from November 2014 to January 2015, Systems Engineering from March 2014 to September 2014, and MATLAB Programming from November 2011 to January 2012 and from November 2010 to January 2011.

Furthermore, Tobias gained engineering internship experience at CISAS "G.Colombo", University of Padua from November 2013 to February 2014, where they focused on the design and manufacturing of a fluid injection thrust vector control system for a hybrid rocket motor.

Additionally, they have maintenance experience at the German Air Force, specifically with the MIM-104 Patriot current generator from October 2008 to June 2009.

Tobias Knop attended Johannes-Brahms-Schule from 1999 to 2008 and obtained an Abitur degree. Tobias then enrolled in Delft University of Technology, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from 2009 to 2012. Tobias graduated with distinction and received the certification for their bachelor's degree. Tobias continued their education at Delft University of Technology and completed a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from 2012 to 2015.
