Julian Zou, P.Eng has a diverse work experience in various industries. Julian began their career as a Research Assistant at Nova Scotia Health Authority in 2017. Julian then moved on to become a First Aid Instructor at Nova Scotia Lifesaving Society from 2014 to 2018. During this time, they also worked as a Special Events Officer at Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service, where they organized Lifesaving Sport events and promoted the Rent-A-Guard service.

In 2018, Julian joined Daxsonics Ultrasound Inc. as a Junior Transducer Designer, where they fabricated transducers and tested and validated ultrasound system parts according to medical device health regulations. Julian later became a Transducer Designer and eventually a Transducer Engineering Manager.

Prior to their career in the engineering field, Julian worked at Canada Games Centre Halifax as an Advanced Instructor/Aquatic Team Lead. In this role, they trained lifeguards and supervised a team to ensure a safe and productive working environment.

Additionally, Julian briefly served as the Assistant Director - Technical Operations at Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service, overseeing safety and training operations for lifeguards on provincial beaches. Julian ensured compliance with policies and standards during their tenure.

Julian Zou, P.Eng, obtained their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Dalhousie University, where they studied from 2014 to 2018. Additionally, they hold various certifications including WHMIS obtained in May 2015, the B1 Diplôme d’études en langue française obtained from the Centre international d'études pédagogiques (CIEP) in April 2014, and certifications in First Aid/CPR Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner, National Lifeguard - Pool/Waterfront, and Standard First Aid/HCP-CPR/Oxygen Administration obtained through the Nova Scotia Lifesaving Society between 2012 and 2014. Julian also completed their Engineer-In-Training certification from Engineers Nova Scotia in September 2018. Finally, they obtained the P.Eng, Professional Engineer designation from Engineers Nova Scotia in January 2023.
