Katy Gordon has held various roles throughout their work experience. Katy started their career as a journalist at the Strathearn Herald and later became a Chief Reporter for the Strathearn Herald and Blairgowrie Advertiser. During this time, they managed the day-to-day operations of the newspapers, worked with sub-editors, and maintained the papers' websites and social media accounts. Additionally, they worked as a digital journalist and was responsible for scheduling articles, creating multimedia content, and covering breaking stories for different regional newspaper websites.
In 2010, Katy ventured into freelancing as a writer for the Forestry Commission. Katy then joined DC Thomson, where they worked as a Senior Commercial Copywriter, creating commercial editorial and ad campaigns, among other projects. Katy also took on the role of editor of the YOUR magazine series and received an award for their work within the commercial department. Later, they became the Acting Assistant Head of Print at DC Thomson.
Additionally, Katy worked as the Vice Chairman of the Board and Director of Public Relations for the UK Roller Derby Association. Katy also served as the Social Media Director for the Men's Roller Derby World Cup, where they developed the social media strategy and managed the accounts before, during, and after the tournament, as well as a team of volunteers.

Katy Gordon attended Auchterarder High School from 1997 to 2002. Katy then pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Journalism from Edinburgh Napier University, completing their studies from 2002 to 2005.
