Poppy Watson

Poppy Watson is a features writer at The Courier in Dundee, specializing in a diverse range of topics such as families, style, home and interiors, and food since June 2022. Prior experience includes working as a live news reporter covering breaking news across Tayside and Fife. Previously, Poppy served as a journalist and events researcher at FutureScot, focusing on innovation news in the Scottish public sector, and editing an education technology newsletter. Poppy taught English as a second language at Cambly Inc. and was recognized with the Write to End Violence Against Women bursary from Zero Tolerance Scotland, leading to feature writing on violence against women for national awareness campaigns. Early journalistic experience includes short stints at the Scottish Daily Record and the Press & Journal. Poppy developed foundational skills as a student journalist at The Tab while studying at the University of Strathclyde, where a degree in English, Journalism and Creative Writing was earned alongside an NCTJ Diploma in Journalism from Glasgow Clyde College.
