Gustavo Fortmann

Gustavo Fortmann is an experienced professional with a diverse background in technology and engineering. Gustavo currently holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at DD DANNAR, LLC, starting in 2022. Prior to this, they were employed at Local Motors from 2021 to 2022, where they served as Chief Technology Officer and VP Engineering & Technology.

From 2018 to 2020, Gustavo worked at ZF Group as the Global Head of ADAS/Autonomy Hardware Development. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the design work of all ADAS and autonomous hardware. Gustavo managed a team of approximately 200 employees across multiple locations, including Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, Poland, and China.

At HARMAN International, Gustavo held various roles from 2015 to 2018. Gustavo served as the Connected Safety Platform Manager, managing projects in ADAS and autonomy. Additionally, they worked as an architect for autonomous driving systems, actively participating in the creation process.

Before joining HARMAN International, Gustavo was employed at Caterpillar Inc. from 2008 to 2015. In this time, they held multiple roles including Telematics Product Leader, Software Lead for Autonomous Trucks, NPI Lead for Remote Controlled Vehicles, and Project Manager for Telematics.

From 2004 to 2008, Gustavo worked at Komatsu America Corp. as a Project Leader for Advanced Features. Gustavo managed software development and led advanced technology projects, including code development for Komatsu trucks.

Gustavo's career began at KOMATSU, Ltd in 1999, where they served as a Sr. Electrical Engineer. Gustavo held various roles such as Factory Automation Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer, and Sr. Electrical Engineer. Notably, they were the first person to implement machine learning in a production vehicle.

Gustavo Fortmann pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Tokyo. Before that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Universidad Simón Bolívar.
