Zainab Alkebsi

Zainab Alkebsi, Esq. serves as the Chief Policy Officer at Deaf Equality since October 2024, where responsibilities include leading policy initiatives for individuals who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late-Deafened, DeafBlind, and DeafDisabled, with a focus on collaboration with various government entities, including the Federal Communications Commission. Previously, Zainab was the Policy Counsel at the National Association of the Deaf from July 2015 to October 2024, providing analysis and recommendations on policy matters affecting the deaf and hard of hearing communities. Additional experience includes roles as Deputy Director at the Maryland Governor's Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Judicial Law Clerk at the Maryland Judiciary, Student Attorney at the Innocence Project Clinic, and various internships focused on policy research. Zainab holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
