Melissa Walker serves as an Associate Research Fellow at Deakin University since March 2024. Previously, Melissa held the position of Lecturer, Academic Advisor, and Coordinator at Navitas from January 2022 to March 2024, and worked as a Laboratory Demonstrator at both La Trobe University and Western Sydney University between January 2016 and December 2022. In addition, a doctoral student at Western Sydney University from January 2018 to May 2022, Melissa conducted honours research at La Trobe University. A notable expedition as a Mammalogist occurred at Harvard University in July 2017 under the supervision of Danny Haelewaters. Walker earned a PhD in Physiological Ecology and Energetics from Western Sydney University and holds a Bachelor's degree in Animal and Veterinary Bioscience from La Trobe University, along with a certification in Dog Emotion and Cognition from Duke University. Ongoing education includes participation in the Vets in the Wild program at the University of Pretoria.
