Chris Deere

Chris Deere has a diverse work experience spanning several industries, including telecommunications and venture capital. From 2022, they have been working as a General Partner at Unify Ventures, where they manage multi-thematic VC fund of funds and a co-investment fund. Chris joined NNNCo (National Narrowband Network Co) as an Executive Director in 2022, focusing on the potential of IoT and scaling up the business as a LoRaWAN operator.

Prior to this, Chris held various roles at Countrytell from 2018 to 2021, including Chairman and Director of Infrastructure & Strategy. Chris was responsible for improving telecommunications in regional Australia and blending wireless, fiber, and data center infrastructure with NBN and other telco assets. Chris also served as a Director at NNNCo from 2018 to 2019, investing in the company and applying their experience in helping it become a national IoT network.

Before joining NNNCo, Chris worked at Vocus Communications from 2013 to 2017, holding roles such as CTO, Deputy CEO, Director of Infrastructure & Strategy, and General Manager of Ipera. Chris'sresponsibilities included overseeing technical aspects of the business, integration of acquisitions, and managing data center operations.

Chris has also been involved in entrepreneurial ventures, including being the Owner and Managing Director of Ipera Communications, a telecommunications carrier with fiber optic and co-location assets, before it was purchased by Vocus. Additionally, they were the Managing Director of HunterLink, a leading dial-up internet service provider in Newcastle and the Hunter region.

Chris Deere attended Pittwater House Private School from 1983 to 1989. Following this, from 1990 to 1999, they pursued a Bachelor of Information Science degree at the University of Newcastle.
