Mike Bates

Mike Bates has a diverse work experience in the medical technology industry. Mike began their career as an Angel Investor at Band of Angels and Life Science Angels in 2007, where they co-chaired the Life Science/MedTech group and the medical device screening committee. Mike was involved in several medical technology investments, including companies like Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics, BlackSwan Vascular, and Cayenne Medical.

In 2015, Mike joined Dextera Surgical Inc. as Chairman of the Board, where they played a significant role in the design and manufacturing of proprietary stapling and anastomotic devices for surgical procedures. Mike also served as a Director and Chair of the Audit Committee.

During their career, Mike also held positions at various companies in different capacities. Mike was the Consulting CFO at Moximed, Inc. from 2008 to 2015, a Board Member at Catheter Connections from 2011 to 2013, and an Audit Committee Chairman and Board Member at Barrx Medical from 2007 to 2012. Mike also served as an Audit Committee Chairman and Board Member at Satiety, Inc. from 2007 to 2011 and at Emphasys Medical from 2007 to 2009.

In recent years, Mike worked as a Director at Deep Blue Medical Advances, Inc. since 2019 and as a Director at BlackSwan Vascular, Inc. from 2018 to 2023. At BlackSwan Vascular, they played a vital role in the development of an endovascular embolization system for the treatment of peripheral arterial hemorrhage.
