Christophe Veaux

Lead Research Scientist at Deep Zen

Christophe Veaux has a long and impressive work history. Christophe started as a Research Engineer at France Telecom R&D in 2000, where they conducted research on objective measures of speech quality and developed PSOM, a psychoacoustic-based measure of speech quality. Christophe also completed their PhD in Signal Processing at Orange in 2000, with their dissertation available online. In 2006, they became a Research Associate in Expressive Speech Synthesis at IRCAM. In 2011, they moved to The University of Edinburgh as a Research Associate in Speech Technologies. In 2014, they were an Invited Researcher at the National Institute of Informatics. Since 2017, they have been a freelance Speech Technology and Machine Learning Consultant, collaborating with composer Florian Hecker, Studio Alec Finlay, and SpotlightData Research Ltd. Most recently, in 2018, they became a Lead TTS Researcher at DeepZen.

Christophe Veaux received a BSc in Applied Physics from Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) between 1995 and 1998. Christophe then obtained an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the same university in 1999. Afterwards, they earned a Master's degree in Telecom, Signal, Image, and Speech Processing from Telecom Bretagne in 2000. Finally, they completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Telecommunication, Signal, and Image from Télécom Paris in 2005.
