Vassilis Pitsikalis has a diverse work experience in the field of research and development. Vassilis is the founder and Chief Science Officer at DeepLab since 2017. Prior to this, they worked at NTUA as an external research associate and later became a Senior Research Associate, starting in 2014. During their tenure at NTUA, they were involved in various research projects, including I-SUPPORT and MOBOT, sponsored by the European Union. Vassilis also served as a Research Consultant at NTUA. Additionally, Vassilis worked as an Expert for the European Commission - H2020 from 2018. Before joining NTUA, they held the position of Post Doctoral Researcher from 2009 to 2012, working on the project Dicta-Sign. Vassilis also obtained their PhD while working as a researcher at NTUA from 2004 to 2008.
Vassilis Pitsikalis holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the field of automatic speech recognition, signal processing, feature extraction, and embeddings/nonlinear systems from the National Technical University of Athens. Vassilis completed this degree from 2001 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree from the same institution from 1995 to 2000. Their Master's degree focused on Signal Processing, Pattern Recognition; Control, Robotics; Networks, Telecom; and Computer systems.
