Brendon DeGroot is a research technologist at Defence Research and Development Canada, specializing in the Biological Threat Defence Section since August 2023, focusing on the efficacy of novel antimicrobials against biological agents using murine models within a containment level 3 laboratory. Prior experience includes a role as a research technician at Aurora BioSolutions, where Brendon studied the effects of cryopreservation on mesenchymal stromal cells, and earlier positions as a research assistant at ProMax Agronomy, Defence Research and Development Canada, and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where Brendon dealt with a variety of biological research projects, including pathogen identification and disease monitoring. Brendon holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Psychology from The University of Lethbridge, completed in 2021.
