Vivian Lau is a Defence Scientist at Defence Research and Development Canada, a position held since September 2018. Prior to this role, Vivian was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, focusing on polymer mechanochemistry. Vivian's research experience includes work as a Graduate Research Assistant at Stanford University, where strategies for selective catalysis in organic synthesis were developed, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of British Columbia, involving the synthesis of nucleotide-conjugated macrocycles. Earlier, Vivian served as a Summer Research Assistant at the University of Calgary, conducting photophysical investigations. Vivian obtained a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Stanford University and a BSc in Chemistry (Honours) from The University of British Columbia.
