Mary Pfaffko

Director, Private Lands Program at Defenders of Wildlife

Mary Pfaffko is an experienced wildlife conservation professional with a comprehensive background in policy analysis and program management. Currently serving as the Director of the Private Lands Program at Defenders of Wildlife since September 2017, Mary Pfaffko focuses on national-level policies concerning wildlife conservation on private lands. Prior experience includes roles such as Assistant Chief of Nongame Conservation at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Teaming With Wildlife Associate at the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies, where Mary Pfaffko contributed to wildlife diversity conservation and funding initiatives. Additional experience includes conducting wildlife research as a Wildlife Biologist for the DC Department of Energy and Environment and engaging in educational activities related to ornithology at Broome Bird Observatory. Mary Pfaffko holds a Master's degree in International Affairs from American University and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from the University of Florida.
