Monika Arvelo is an accomplished attorney with extensive experience in employment law and litigation. Currently serving as an Assistant City Attorney and previously as Assistant Director in the Human Resources Department for the City of Austin since April 2015, Arvelo has a background that includes roles such as Assistant General Counsel for the Texas Department of State Health Services and Employment and Litigation Attorney for the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Prior to these positions, Arvelo worked as a Staff Attorney for the US Postal Service and a General Attorney for the IRS, specializing in labor and employment law and representing management in various legal proceedings. Arvelo began their career as a Contract Attorney and Certified Federal EEO Investigator, conducting investigations into employee discrimination complaints.
