Principal Scientist/team Leader at Definigen

Lia Panman is a neurobiologist with significant expertise in stem cell research and Parkinson's disease. Currently serving as Team Leader for Neuroscience at DefiniGEN since June 2021, Lia previously held the position of Group Leader at the MRC Toxicology Unit from December 2012 to June 2021, leading a neurotoxicity group. Prior to that, Lia worked as a post-doctoral researcher under Thomas Perlmann at the Karolinska Institutet from September 2004 to November 2012, focusing on directing stem cell differentiation into specific neuronal lineages, particularly dopaminergic and motor neurons. Lia's academic journey began as a PhD student in the group of Rolf Zeller at Universiteit Utrecht from 1999 to 2004, studying limb bud polarity mediated by Sonic Hedgehog. Lia earned a Master's degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Groningen between 1993 and 1998.
