Michael Charlton

Michael Charlton currently serves as the Head of Water Industry Strategy at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, a role held since August 2023. Prior to this, Michael was the Head of Environment Policy at HM Treasury from May 2022 to August 2023 and held various positions within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, including Head of Environment Spending and Environment Strategy Director's Office and Policy Adviser roles focusing on climate and economic partnerships. Michael's experience at HM Treasury also includes serving as a Strategy Adviser and Spending and Policy Adviser. Academic credentials include a Master of Arts in Philosophy and a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, both obtained from the University of Bristol. In addition to professional roles, Michael has engaged in mentorship and ambassadorial positions at the University of Bristol and Crosslane.
