Tori Hui Ren

Director, Well Living Lab at Delos

Tori Hui Ren, PhD, MSPM, BArch, WELL AP has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Tori Hui is currently working as the Director of the Well Living Lab at Delos since February 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoc Design Researcher at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta, where they conducted qualitative research to determine the factors affecting people's health and well-being. Tori Hui also worked on designing interventions and implementations to improve physical activity, social connections, and healthy eating in building and neighborhood environments.

Before their role at the University of Alberta, Tori was a Doctoral Design Researcher at the same university, where they focused on understanding how built environments affect residents' health and well-being in senior care/dementia care environments. Tori Hui provided design analysis services and produced recommendations for the industry clients to enhance the well-being of the residents.

Tori has also worked as an Instructor at OCAD University and as a Project Manager at Sino-Canada International Academy for Health Studies, where they researched and assessed the business performance of international health and caregiving education programs, developed strategies, and expanded partnerships. Tori Hui also ensured timely completion and adherence to budgets.

Earlier in their career, Tori worked as a Project Coordinator at Swanke Hayden Connell Architects and as a Junior Architect at Huasen Architecture & Engineering.

Tori Hui Ren, PhD, MSPM, BArch, WELL AP, has an extensive education history. Tori Hui obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Aging and Material Culture from the University of Alberta, where they were part of the Department of Human Ecology from 2013 to 2019. In addition, they completed a Western Canadian Deans' Agreement of Graduate Student program at Simon Fraser University in 2014, focusing on the Department of Gerontology. Prior to that, Tori acquired a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Project Management from Chalmers University of Technology between 2011 and 2013, within the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Their educational journey began at Shenzhen University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) from 2003 to 2008, studying in the Department of Architecture.

Furthermore, Tori Hui Ren holds the WELL AP certification, granted by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) in 2021.
