Daehwan Shin has extensive experience in various roles in the field of bioengineering and product development. Daehwan most recently served as the Director of Product Development - Materials at DenMat Holdings, LLC, starting in March 2019. Prior to that, Daehwan worked at Bisco, Inc. for over a decade, holding positions such as Manager of Bioengineering, Associate Director of R&D Operations, and Manager of Project Management. Before joining Bisco, Inc., Daehwan was a Research Engineer at Southwest Research Institute from December 2002 to February 2005. Daehwan began their career at UT Health San Antonio, where they held positions including Assistant Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Prosthodontics at the School of Dentistry. Daehwan also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Fellow in Orthopaedic Bioengineering in the Department of Orthopaedics at the School of Medicine.
Daehwan Shin completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University, with a duration from 1978 to 1982. Daehwan then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in Bone Biomechanics, at UT Southwestern Medical Center from 1986 to 1989. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biomedical Engineering, focusing on Cell Biomechanics, from The University of Texas at Austin, covering the period from 1990 to 1996.
